A resin model of the airfield standing ladder for the MiG-25 in 1:48 scale from the Russian brand Temp Models. At the aircraft the ladder is used for the pilot getting in and out and for the ground crew working on the cockpit. The set is printed in resin, so the rungs and the frame hold their shape even in thin sections. It is not an aircraft model but an accessory that gives a finished model a sense of scale and brings a flight line or a diorama to life.
The MiG-25 is a twin-engined interceptor and reconnaissance aircraft built for very high speed and great altitudes. The cockpit sits high above the ground, so it cannot be reached without help, and a tall wheeled ladder therefore belonged with it at airfields. It is this proportion that tends to be the most striking thing in photographs: the machine itself looks enormous and a human figure beside it disappears. A model of the ladder carries that impression over to the shelf.
Release the thin parts from the supports carefully, best of all with a new scalpel blade and with something under the part. Sand the burrs left by the supports with fine paper, wet. Glue the structure with cyanoacrylate glue on a flat surface, so that the ladder does not end up standing crooked. Ground equipment tends to be scuffed, so after the base color it is worth suggesting chipping and settling dust on the lower part with a dry brush or with pigment.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
