A resin set of landing gear legs for a model of the Su-27 fighter in 1:48 scale from the Russian brand Temp Models. For the sets in this series the manufacturer states printing from a strong polymer reinforced with steel pins, and the extended position with the lines, the landing lights and a fender picked out. A model of a large fighter is heavy and plastic legs sag under it in time; here that problem falls away. It is not an aircraft kit.
The Su-27 is a heavy twin-engine fighter whose main landing gear legs retract forward into the fuselage and whose nose leg retracts under the cockpit. The legs carry a machine with a takeoff weight of over twenty tons, so they are rugged and full of hydraulics, lines and struts. On a parked aircraft it is one of the most clearly visible assemblies and a viewer looks it over from every side.
Release the parts from the supports with a scalpel and level the mating faces. Wash the resin in lukewarm soapy water before painting. Spray the legs before fitting and bring the lines out with a dark tone run into the recesses. A faint oil weep around the shock strut and dust on the lower parts will lend a leg credibility.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
