A detailed replacement landing gear in 1:72 scale from the Russian manufacturer Temp Models. For the set the manufacturer gives finely detailed nose and main legs in the ground position with imitated electrical and hydraulic systems and landing lights, as well as a mudguard and wheels. According to the manufacturer the legs are made by 3D prototyping from a high-strength polymer and reinforced with steel rods.
The Su-27 is a Soviet heavy twin-engine fighter with a blended transition from the wing into the fuselage, powered by a pair of AL-31F turbofan engines with afterburners. Its high takeoff weight makes considerable demands on the landing gear: the legs are robust, the nose leg carries a prominent mudguard and the tires flatten clearly on a standing aircraft. The plastic legs from a kit tend to be simplified and soft in this scale.
Landing gear legs are among the most heavily loaded parts of a model. The steel reinforcement inside the parts raises their load capacity markedly, yet let the joints cure thoroughly before you stand the model on its wheels. Cut the print supports away with a scalpel and sand the pad, and glue the parts with cyanoacrylate glue, that is with super glue. Landing gear legs used to be light gray and got dirty quickly, so a dark wash and fine traces of dust show up well on them. Sanding is best done wet and with respiratory protection.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
