A collectible fantasy figure from the Rage of Ages range. It is a standalone character, not a vehicle kit and not an accessory for a model. The 35 mm is the nominal height, not a scale. The casting is resin, which suits figures of exactly this size, because the material holds the sharp rendering of the face and of small accessories that would be blurred in injection-molded plastic.
Resin castings call for a few extra steps compared with plastic. Washing in lukewarm soapy water removes the mold release agent and greatly improves the adhesion of the primer. Cut the casting blocks off, never snap them. Try thin parts such as fingers or a weapon dry before gluing, as resin tends to be slightly bent after transport and can be straightened by a brief dip in hot water and holding it until it cools.
On a figure in this format heavily thinned acrylic applied repeatedly works best. One thick layer floods the modeling; five thin layers give a smooth and readable surface. A wet palette pays off, so that the paint does not dry on the brush and the shade stays the same throughout. Lay out the main areas in flat tones first and only then add shadow and light, because the reverse order makes it easy to lose track of what is where. Glazes of heavily thinned paint are gentler than covering the area again: they shift the tone and let what is underneath show. Seal the finished piece with a varnish that evens out the differing degrees of gloss from the various paints.
The figure is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Paints, glue and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
