A warm tanned flesh shade for human figures. One application colors the face and hands and deepens the eye sockets, creases and folds of the skin by itself.

Tanned Skin is aimed at the complexion of someone who has spent years under the sun: a warm tone shifted toward brown with no pink cast. It suits soldiers from desert campaigns, sailors, laborers and fantasy characters from southern peoples. The paint works in a single coat, pulls itself into the eye sockets, the corners of the mouth and between the fingers and darkens there, so a face gains depth before you reach for a second color.
The habit of priming everything black kills this type of paint outright. The shade is translucent and counts on light shining through from below, so over a dark base it turns a muddy, lifeless brown. The mistake therefore does not happen while painting, but at the moment you reach for the spray can. Flesh calls for a light base, ideally white or bone, or else a dark base lightened with a dry brush. The difference is obvious at first glance.
On small faces a single drop is enough, drawn out with a soft tip from the nose to the edges. If the shade seems too saturated, wipe the brush dry and pass it over the raised areas while the paint is still wet. Lips, cheeks and scars are done last, over a perfectly dry surface.
