The set replaces the cockpit fittings on a model of the F-35A in 1:72 scale. Three-dimensional printing allows shapes that cannot be produced by the usual route: thin edges, deep recesses and small controls standing out above the surface. In a small scale that shows most, because it is there that the plastic parts from a kit run into their limits. Which sections of the cockpit the set covers and which kit it is matched to are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
The F-35A is the land-based version of the F-35 Lightning II combat aircraft, with conventional takeoff and landing. Its cockpit is arranged differently from those of older machines: the classic round instruments were replaced by one large touchscreen across the whole width of the panel, so under the glazing there is no instrument panel full of dials but a smooth surface. The model therefore stands or falls with the cleanness of the seat, the side consoles and the frame.
Printed parts are held on print supports. Cut them off with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the remainder off carefully, so as not to touch the surface itself. The material is harder and more brittle than the plastic from a kit, so do not lever it and give yourself time to separate the supports. The parts are not glued with cement for polystyrene but with super glue, applied in a small amount. Wash and degrease them before painting and use a primer coat, otherwise the paint holds less well. Finish the cockpit and let it dry before you fit the glazing.
The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
