Harvest gold is the shade that the manufacturer connects with dried-out and resting grass and weeds. Against the honey tone of the same line it is cooler and closer to the color of straw, so it gets on better with grayish and brown areas. The shaker with a sieve takes 945 cm³ of scatter, which the manufacturer gives also as 57.7 cubic inches.
It looks the most natural on areas that had drought all summer: along unpaved roads, on embankments, around old buildings and between the rails of a siding. The fineness of the scatter makes it possible to cover even small details, so grass growing through paving or a crack in concrete comes out faithfully. A combination with coarser stone gives an area the layering that a fine scatter on its own never has. The coarser material is laid on top, as otherwise the fine grains would cover it and the difference would be lost.
The proven procedure is to apply glue with a brush to one part of an area only, to spread the scatter, to wait and only then to go on beside it. Slight differences in density arise that way, which the eye reads as natural irregularity. Lead the fixing spray from a distance, as a strong stream from a sprayer blows a light scatter away before it has time to be wetted. Once dry the area can be gone over gently with a dry brush, which levels out the most conspicuous lumps.
