A number from the chart is more practical when building a model than a verbal name: it is unambiguous, it can be traced years later and compared with any other source that uses the same marking. Green-gray tones are used on models over large areas as well as in interiors, where a shade that is neither markedly green nor coldly gray comes in handy. Shake the bottle properly before use, so that the pigment settled at the bottom returns into the whole volume. Use the thinner made for this range and the thinning ratio from the manufacturer's instructions on the packaging; a thinner from another range can curdle the paint or worsen its adhesion. Test the consistency and the coverage on a piece of scrap plastic or on a hidden area of the model and adjust the paint only according to that test.
Wash and degrease the surface before painting, and on extensive smooth areas a primer helps. Apply the paint in several thin coats and let them dry between each other; a single heavy coat floods the fine surface relief and rounds off the edges. Mask only after complete drying, not after the paint has merely set.
