A figure of a Scottish clan warrior of 1746 from MIG productions, cast in resin in 90 mm size. It is not a finished collector's model. It is supplied as a resin kit for experienced modelers, which has to be cleaned of mold release residue, cut from its casting blocks, glued and painted. The 90 mm size belongs among the collector formats in which the painting of the face, the cloth and the small fittings stands out, and it is therefore popular with figure modelers working in oils as well as acrylics.
The year 1746 closes the Jacobite rising in the Scottish Highlands. The warriors of the Highland clans of that time were not a regular army in the modern sense; they usually provided their own arms and clothing, which led to great variety in appearance. Typical was woolen clothing with a checked pattern, whose coloring depended on the dyes available in a given region, and a bladed weapon carried at the belt. The particular kit, pose and accessories of this figure are shown by the casting itself.
First wash the parts in warm water with detergent to remove the release agent from the mold, otherwise the paint will not hold. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a cutter; do not break them. Always sand resin with respiratory protection and preferably wet, as the dust is harmful to health. It is glued with cyanoacrylate; align the joints beforehand, as resin does not forgive inaccuracy. Apply a primer before painting, best in two thin layers. On a large figure it pays to shade smoothly, either with oils or with acrylics applied in many thinned layers, because in this format sharp transitions show at once.
The figure is supplied unassembled and unpainted as a resin kit. Glue, paints and a base are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
