Jade Green belongs to the Quick Gen Color acrylic range, which AK interactive aims at figures and gaming models. The binder is acrylic and it is thinned with water or with the medium from the same range. The shade is a light green with a blue undertone, a cool jade tone - not grass green or olive, more the color of glass and of a gemstone.

Where the shade belongs and how it behaves

A cool light green suits cloak trims, magical effects, glass, patinated copper and the parts of armor that are meant to read as cold. Over a dark ground a light shade has to be built up in layers; over a light base, on the other hand, it works splendidly as a glaze, because its blue undertone cools the surface without recoloring it.

Unifying a surface: how a filter works

When several shades that do not quite agree meet on a model, repainting them rarely helps. A filter is more effective - paint thinned very heavily, drawn across the whole surface, which shifts every tone underneath in the same direction. That is exactly where Jade Green is a rewarding tool: a tiny amount in plenty of water, applied with a soft brush in one direction and left to dry. The result does not hide detail, it only evens out the differences and gives the surface a common undertone. Repeat the step three times lightly rather than once heavily - a strong filter is no longer a filter but a new coat of paint. For realism in scale this step is often more important than the accuracy of the base shade itself.
