MARINEGRAU – NAVY GREY RAL 7002

The color

A gray tone listed under the German name Marinegrau, meaning navy gray, and marked with the number RAL 7002. RAL is a German standard of shades in which every tone has a four-digit number, and the first digit sorts the shade into a color group. The seven belongs to the gray tones, so the number alone tells you which family the color falls into and you do not have to guess the shade from the photograph on the packaging.

What it is suited to

Gray tones are all-rounders in modeling: they suit the large areas of vehicles, where a louder color would be noisy, as well as fittings, metal parts and equipment. The reference to the standard is handy because building instructions and color profiles refer to RAL numbers, so you can match a color from different sources. The Real Colors range by AK Interactive is listed by the manufacturer as acrylic.

Usage tips

• Stir the bottle properly before work, as the pigment settles at the bottom.
• Lay it on in several thin coats, as one heavy coat floods the engraved detail and the rivets.
• Use the thinner that the manufacturer specifies for this range.
• The thinning ratio for spraying and for a brush is stated by the manufacturer on the packaging.
• Try the shade out on a piece of plastic, as it looks different on the model than in the bottle.

What the delivery contains

The bottle of paint alone is supplied. Thinner, brushes, clear coats and primer are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise. The volume of the package and the recommended thinner are given in the manufacturer's data on the packaging.
