This is a plastic weapon for models of piloted robots on science fiction themes. The name describes it as a mass-produced Zeon sword, that is, the ordinary armament of one of the sides rather than a unique piece belonging to a particular machine. On robot models a hand weapon is one of the elements that change the expression of a finished figure most: depending on what the machine is holding, it comes across either as a sentry or as an attacker in the middle of a fight.
The accessory is aimed at models whose armament lacks a close-combat weapon, or at those where you want to replace the original armament. Before buying, compare the size of the sword with the model you want to give it to; the way it is held in the hand and any further parts are specified in the manufacturer's instructions.
Cut the excess material and the traces of manufacture away with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the rest down, so that the cutting edge stays straight. A long thin blade bends easily, so store it flat and do not leave the model in direct sunlight. Wash and degrease the part before painting. The cutting edge comes out well in a lighter shade with a sheen, whereas the hilt and the grip suit a matte surface; make the transition between them sharp, so the weapon reads on the model even from a distance.
