Fine scenic foliage from Green Stuff World in a red finish. The word mix in the name refers to a combination, not to a single repeated element. Foliage is a detail material for finishing a scene: into branches, onto climbing greenery, into the joints of masonry and as litter on paths and on the ground.

Where it belongs in the planting

Red is the strongest autumn signal on a model. A little of it is enough and a scene immediately stops being timeless. It works best in two positions. Either as the foliage of a climber scaling a wall, because that is where a red autumn is most typical, or as litter on the ground, where red contrasts sharply with brown earth and gray paving. Against foliage granulate, which builds the bulk of the planting, foliage works at the level of individual leaves and only reads when looked at from close up.

How it is layered

• Terrain first, then the planting, and foliage right at the very end.
• Anchor it with a thinly applied fixative binder so that it stays in place once dry.
• Divide the foliage between the branches and the ground; litter under a tree makes a scene believable.
• Leave it irregular; a regular scatter looks like a pattern, not like nature.
• Add a few green and brown leaves; purely red planting looks artificial.
