About product

The Belgian Air Force from the Meteor to the Alpha Jet

After the war Belgium bought aircraft alternately on both sides of the Atlantic and its camouflage copies that faithfully. The older fleet carried British shades, the newer American ones, and both sets meet side by side in this box.

The British line is opened by the pair BS Dark Green (BS381C:641) and BS Dark Sea Grey (BS381C:638), which were carried on the upper surfaces of the Gloster Meteor machines in the F.4, F.8 and night NF.11 versions, then by the F-84F and the reconnaissance RF-84F, the Hawker Hunter F.6 and the twin-engine CF-100 Canuck Mk.5. The lower surfaces of the Meteors and Thunderstreaks were covered by BS PRU Blue (BS381C:636) in an arrangement that was called North Atlantic. The fourth British tone, BS Medium Sea Grey (BS381C:637), had the upper and lower surfaces of the Meteor NF.11 at first and later only the underside, and it appeared in the same way on the lower surfaces of the Canuck.

The second half of the package belongs to a single but long-used pattern. The combination of Dark Tan (FS30219), Medium Green (FS34102) and Extra Dark Green (FS34064) on the upper surfaces, complemented by the shade Camouflage Grey (FS36622) on the underside, appeared on the F-104G machines and their training versions, on the T-33A, on the F-84F and RF-84F, on the Mirage 5BA, on the Alpha Jet 1B and in a single case also on a Magister trainer.

When to reach for the second part

This first part stops at the pattern with the dark brown. Machines repainted later into gray tones are dealt with by the continuation of the range, which aims at the upgraded fighters and at the rescue helicopters.

FAQ

The Belgian Air Force operated equipment from both sources at the same time. The older machines carried finishes to the British standard, the newer ones to the American scale.

For two. The first is the two-color upper pattern with a blue underside, the second the later combination of three tones on the spine with a light lower surface.

Yes, it was carried by the two-seat F-104 versions, the T-33A aircraft and the Alpha Jet, and according to the source also by one single Magister.

It is not, you are buying the paints only. A kit, thinner and tools have to be added separately.
