About product

Mr.Paint Russia Turquoise Cockpit (Aqua Acrylic, 17 ml)

A modeling paint, not a kit. A water-thinnable acrylic from the Slovak brand Mr.Paint in the Aqua range, in a 17 ml bottle, for airbrush and brush. This is exactly the kind of paint a modeler reaches for a specialist brand to get: Soviet and Russian cockpits have a characteristic turquoise, light blue-green shade that cannot be mixed convincingly from an ordinary palette of green and gray interior colors.

Where It Belongs and What to Buy with It

The turquoise of interiors is one of the hallmarks of equipment from the eastern school of design - leave it out on a model and the cockpit immediately looks Western. Soviet interiors were not, however, one single color across all types and periods: the manufacturer therefore carries a whole family of interior shades. Alongside this turquoise there is also Russia Cockpit Blue (a different, blue interior shade), plus a light gray and a light blue cockpit variant, a separate shade for the cockpits of Sukhoi machines and also a shade for the sealant of Russian cockpits. Choose according to the documentation for your particular aircraft, not according to what was on another type - this is exactly where mistakes are made most often.

Use

  • It is thinned with water or the acrylic thinner of the Aqua range - it is not a lacquer, so no lacquer thinner is needed.
  • Airbrush and brush; the small parts of a cockpit take a brush well, while large areas are better sprayed.
  • A satin finish is the ideal base under a dark wash, which brings out the detail of instruments and frames in a cockpit.
  • Reach saturation with thin coats over a light base; one thick coat floods the detail.
  • Shake the bottle thoroughly before use.

Who the paint is for

For modelers of Soviet and Russian aircraft and helicopters who want a cockpit that matches the real thing - and for anyone who builds eastern equipment and does not want to improvise the interior.

A modeling paint in a 17 ml bottle. The kit, glue and thinner are not included in the package. Work in a ventilated room, and use respiratory protection when spraying. Keep out of the reach of children.

FAQ

A water-thinnable acrylic from the Aqua range, suitable for brush as well as airbrush. The main Mr.Paint range consists of lacquers thinned with lacquer thinner - this paint does not belong among them.

This paint is turquoise, that is light blue-green. Russia Cockpit Blue is a separate blue interior shade for other machines. The manufacturer carries both separately precisely because Soviet cockpits were not uniform across types - choose according to the documentation for your model.

Soviet and Russian aircraft and helicopters with a turquoise interior. Because the cockpit shade differs between types and periods, we recommend checking the color in the documentation for the particular machine before spraying.

It is an interior shade. It is not suited to external camouflage - the manufacturer has separate ranges of shades for that.
