This is a set of hand-modeled and hand-painted figures in the railroad scale HO, that is 1:87. It is not a kit and not an unpainted casting; all the pieces are finished and complete in color down to the small details. The Scenic Accents line is built precisely on the fact that a modeler gets a usable vignette at once, without painting and without waiting for anything to dry.
The set captures a four-piece band in full flow, the brisk dance style of American music of the first half of the twentieth century. The figures are modeled in movement, not standing still, so they look lively even without accessories around them. The vignette belongs on a platform, in a park, in front of an inn, at a fair or in a scene with street musicians. It also works well as the center of a smaller knot of onlookers made up of other sets of figures.
The figures are supplied finished and hand-painted, so it is enough to place them in a scene. Tweezers help with precise seating, and a drop of PVA or cyanoacrylate glue is enough for permanent fixing. In soft terrain it pays off to push the vegetation aside, so that the base sits on a firm surface and the figure stands straight. The detail can be brought out further with a dark wash run into the folds of the clothing and with a light lift of the edges using a dry brush; a final coat of matte varnish unifies the gloss and protects the paint against rubbing and dust.
The figures are supplied finished and hand-painted. Glue, terrain materials and further accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
