The U-STAR photo-etched set of saws and scribers is a modeling tool in photo-etched sheet, intended for cutting, separating parts and restoring engraved lines on plastic models.

This is a modeling tool, not a kit or an addition to a model. The set is photo-etched from thin sheet and holds saw blades with various tooth patterns together with scribers and edges for scraping. Thanks to its minute thickness it reaches places where an ordinary saw or file will not fit, and the cut is markedly narrower than with a saw disc. The tools are broken or cut out of the basic fret individually.
Photo-etched blades are flexible, so work without much pressure and let the teeth themselves do the work. For comfortable work and accurate guidance of the cut it pays to clamp the blade in a holder or in a handle for scalpel blades. Always mark an engraved line out first with light strokes along a flexible ruler or masking tape and only then deepen it; on plastic several shallow strokes are better than one deep one. Once finished, polish the surface with fine abrasive paper and remove the remaining swarf, otherwise it will show through the paint.
The tools have sharp edges, so work carefully and keep them out of the reach of children.
