Primary Red is a modeling acrylic paint from Abteilung 502 in its acrylic range, that is water-thinnable, quick-drying and overpaintable once cured. The name says what the shade is cut for: it is a primary, that is a pure basic red. In art practice it forms, together with a primary yellow and blue, the trio from which practically the whole palette can be mixed. In modeling it is therefore used just as often for mixing as for direct application.
It is thinned with water or an acrylic thinner, never with a lacquer or oil thinner. Shake before work, as the pigment settles to the bottom. Rich reds are among the shades that cover worst over a dark base, because their pigment is partly translucent. Over a light gray or white base you will reach full richness far faster and without visible brush strokes. It is better to apply the paint in several thin coats than in one heavy one.
For modelers who mix their own shades and want pure primary colors in their palette, and for builders of vehicles with prominent red areas. It is also useful for figure painters as a component of skin and cloth tones.
Keep out of the reach of children. Ventilate the area while working, do not eat or drink, and do not pour paint residues down the drain.
