PS29 Fluorescent Pink Spray

Tamiya PS-29 Fluorescent Pink, fluorescent pink 100 ml

A signal pink from the fluorescent part of the Tamiya PS line. Fluorescent pigments work differently from ordinary ones, because they convert part of the invisible light into visible light, so the shade looks as though it were glowing on its own, especially in sharp daylight. Chemically it is a lacquer for the polycarbonate bodies of radio-controlled models, and it is not intended for styrene plastic kits. The can holds 100 ml and sprays directly.

What is different about a fluorescent shade

• Fluorescent colors generally cover worse than ordinary ones, so they are applied in several thin coats and only give their full effect over a light base
• The safest procedure is to lay down the pink and then a white covering coat from behind as the last layer, which gives it its brightness back
• Fluorescent pigments are less lightfast and fade faster over time than ordinary shades, so do not keep the model permanently in direct sun
• The color is subjectively hard to judge from a chart, because neither a monitor nor paper shows it as it really is, so rely on a test spray
• It is painted from the inside of the body, so you check the result as you go by looking from the outside

Who it is for

For drivers who want to see the model even in a dusty field, in grass or in poorer light, and for builders of eye-catching schemes with sharp contrasts. Fluorescent pink is often used as a strong accent on a wing, on the fenders or in stripes across the body, where it is meant to grab attention without having to cover the whole surface.

Safety at work: an aerosol under pressure with flammable contents. Spray exclusively outdoors or in a well ventilated space, with no open flame and no hot surfaces, with a respirator and eye protection. Keep a distance of roughly 25 to 30 centimeters. With a fluorescent shade a test spray on scrap material is practically mandatory, because the real color differs from what you imagine. Do not pierce or burn the can and keep it away from temperatures above 40 degrees.
