Plastruct Quarter Round Rod, quarter-round section 1.0 x 1.0 mm

A precisely extruded section of white polystyrene in the shape of a quarter circle: two straight sides meeting at a right angle and a third, rounded side. Section 1.0 x 1.0 mm, length 250 mm, one piece per package. It is modeling material, not a kit: you cut the section to length yourself and use it wherever you need to create a detail or complete a finished model.

Use

• Filling inside corners: glued into the right angle where two surfaces meet, it creates a smooth rounded transition. Without it the corner stays sharp and looks unnatural; real structures almost never have an inside corner that sharp.
• Corners of interiors: cabs, bodies, cargo and fighting compartments, the transition from floor to wall.
• Reinforcements and fillets in the corners of structures, corner trim and transition strips.
• Covering gaps and unsightly openings in the corners of your own panels and scratch-built work.

Working the material

Polystyrene is the same kind of plastic as ordinary kits. The section is cut with a sharp scalpel, can be sanded and is glued with ordinary solvent cement for plastic, which softens the surface and makes a firm weld rather than just a glued joint. It is painted with exactly the same paints as the rest of the model; on a smooth surface a primer pays off. Liquid cement drawn into the corner with a brush pulls the section neatly against both surfaces.

For modelers who modify and detail their models, and for builders of mock-ups, dioramas and scratch-built work. The white color of the material makes it easier to check the shape and the coverage of the paint.

The material is supplied on its own. Glue, paints and tools are not included in the package. When cutting with a scalpel, cut away from yourself and protect your fingers.
