A precisely extruded polystyrene strip of rectangular cross section 0.3 x 0.5 mm and a length of 250 mm. This is a modeling material, not a kit: you get the raw material from which you make the details yourself. Sold as 1 piece.

One of the finest profiles there is

A cross section of 0.3 x 0.5 mm is among the very finest sizes available in plastic profiles. That is exactly its point: it goes wherever anything heavier would be oversized and would give away at once that this is a model. A strip three tenths of a millimeter high creates only a fine shadow and a sharp transition on a surface, which is exactly how a real strip or an overlapped sheet looks in scale.

• Decorative and technical strips on bodywork, fuselages and walls.
• Frames of windows, hatches, doors and instrument panels.
• Imitating the overlapping of metal sheets and the seams between panels.
• Fine stiffeners and ribs on surfaces that would otherwise look empty.
• Rails, guide strips, thin dividing strips and imitations of hardware.

Working the material

The material is polystyrene, so it is glued with ordinary modeling cement for plastic, ideally a thin liquid one applied with a brush along a strip laid in place, which runs into the seam; ABS glue is not needed. The strip is so thin that it is comfortably scored with a scalpel and snapped, and a saw is not necessary. It also bends slightly and follows a curve. Sand the ends with fine abrasive paper. Before painting, spray it with primer so that the paint holds on the smooth plastic.

Who it is for

For modelers who superdetail kits and scratch-build, especially in smaller scales where ordinary strips look coarse, and for builders of architecture, trains and ships, where a lot of fine strips are needed.

The material is supplied unpainted. Glue, paints and tools are not included in the package.
