This is not a finished toy and not a scale model, but an educational construction kit from the Japanese brand Tamiya. Once assembled, it forms a mobile robot on wheels that is controlled with a wired controller. The set is built on universal parts, so it can be built in more than one form and extended later on. The aim is not just the finished article, but also a clear grasp of gearing, levers and simple mechanisms.
The parts are joined with screws and plastic rivets, so ordinary tools are enough for the assembly — a screwdriver and pliers — and glue is mostly not needed. Following the instructions, the robot can be built in a version with an arm, with a blade or with a bucket; the arm can grip and lift an object within the range of its opening, and once non-slip material is added to the jaws it will cope with rounded objects as well. The controller has four channels, so once further separately sold gearboxes are added, up to four different movements can be controlled. The recommended age is from 12 years.
