RLM 63 – AIR

RLM 63 - AK 3rd Generation Acrylics AIR (17 ml)

A water-thinnable acrylic paint of 17 ml from the AIR aircraft range. RLM 63 is a light gray tone with a flat surface and good covering power. The paint behaves like a lacquer, levels itself and is ready to go straight into an airbrush, while it is thinned with water or with AK acrylic thinner and is non-toxic and non-flammable.

Historical use

RLM 63 Hellgrau belonged to the early Luftwaffe color palette. It appeared in the prewar and early war period as part of multi-color upper schemes alongside RLM 61 and RLM 62 and as a lighter supplementary tone. It was carried by prewar and early war machines before the darker camouflage greens came in.

Use

• It is thinned with water or with AK acrylic thinner, and cleaned up wet with water.
• An airbrush handles it unthinned as well as slightly thinned, typically at 15 to 20 psi.
• It also suits a brush and, thanks to its self-leveling, keeps brush marks to a minimum.
• It holds best on a pre-sprayed base or over a primer.
