About product

The color

RLM 71 is a deep dark green, noticeably more legible than the almost black RLM 70. The two numbers meet in the early German scheme on the upper surfaces, where they form a broken pattern with sharp edges. On a model the difference between them is subtle, but it is exactly that difference which decides whether the pattern on a wing shows at all, so it pays to have both containers at hand.

Where it is used

On the upper surface of the wings, on the spine of the fuselage and on the tail surfaces of aircraft of the early period. The green shade also serves on parts glued on at the very end and for touching up spots sanded during the build. Where exactly the pattern has its broken edges and where the boundary with the underside color runs is worth checking in the drawings supplied with the kit.

Painting tips

  • Stir the container before work, as settled pigment otherwise shifts the tone.
  • Apply the lighter of the two greens first, as the darker one covers over it more easily.
  • Lay masks on perfectly dried paint, otherwise the tape will lift it when removed.
  • Spray in thin coats, as a heavy coat floods the engraving of the panel lines.
  • Carry out thinning and the cleaning of tools according to the manufacturer instructions on the packaging.

Terms of supply

The paint is supplied in a volume of 17 ml. Do not return the remainder from a palette to the container, so that dirt does not get into it. The thinner, primer, clear coat and tools are not included, unless stated otherwise. Follow the manufacturer instructions on the packaging for thinning, for cleaning tools and for storage. Work in a well ventilated room and keep the container carefully closed and out of the reach of children.

FAQ

For the upper surfaces of the wings, the fuselage spine and the tail surfaces of German aircraft of the early period.

RLM 71 is a deeper green, while RLM 70 is markedly darker, almost black. In the early scheme both are used side by side.

Usually the lighter shade over the whole area first, then the pattern is masked once it has dried and the darker one sprayed over it.

The package has a volume of 17 ml.
