The color

RLM 82 is a light green from the late German aircraft palette. It appears in upper surface schemes together with the dark RLM 81, with which it forms a pair: the lighter tone brightens the areas of the wings and the spine, while the darker one breaks them up with mottling and bands. It is exactly the contrast between them that makes late German camouflage recognizable at first glance.

Where you will use it

On the upper surfaces of models of German aircraft of the late versions. Both variants of the RLM 81 shade are carried by the same range under the codes RC949 and RC950, so you can get the whole pair from one palette and the shades go together. The exact layout of the areas differed from machine to machine, so stick to the references for the particular kit. The paint also serves elsewhere, wherever you need a clean light green without a blue cast.

How to work with the paint

Stir the contents of the bottle thoroughly before use, as the pigment settles at the bottom. Wash and degrease the parts; paint does not hold on a greasy surface. Light green shades cover worse than dark ones, so lay the area in with a light primer; over dark plastic it looks muddy and would need a heavy coat that drowns the engraved lines. Apply in several thin coats and let them set up between one another. Spray the transitions to the darker shade with thinned paint at low pressure from close up, so that the edge stays soft.
