The F-16 is a single-engine multirole combat aircraft with a characteristic bubble canopy without a windscreen frame, a ventral air intake and a wing blending smoothly into the fuselage. The single-seat version is designated F-16C, the two-seat one F-16D. The Block 70 standard, marketed as the F-16V Viper, represents the current upgrade level with new avionics and an active electronically scanned array radar; earlier delivered machines are being converted to this standard as well. The Republic of China Air Force, abbreviated ROCAF, is among the users that have moved to this standard.
Decide right at the start whether you are building the single-seat or the two-seat form, because the canopy and the cockpit tub differ and the change is no longer possible once the fuselage is glued together. The build is short, but it pays to clean up the mold seams and to fill and sand the fuselage joint. The large enlarged cockpit lets the seat and the instrument panel stand out, so paint them separately and add a dark wash. Spray the gray finish with an airbrush in two close shades so that the surface does not look flat. Apply a gloss coat before the decals and unify the whole with a semi-matte coat once the panel lines have been worked in. Because of the short fuselage, count on adding nose weight.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
