Ten round magnets of 60 mm diameter for the largest round bases in a collection.
Responsibility details are not available.
The most common damage happens not on the table but in the car on the way to a meeting. The sixty-millimeter circle is the largest of the round sizes, so it usually carries the heaviest and worst-balanced pieces, where a fall costs the most. A magnet underneath holds them on the steel of an insert, and jolts only shift them by millimeters.
Ten discs of 60 mm diameter will cover an ordinary display group as well as a smaller command group. The same range includes circles from 25 mm upward, so a collection put together from bases of various sizes can be equipped uniformly, with the same method of attachment every time.
The surest way is to glue the disc into the recess that most modern bases have pre-molded. If the bottom has no recess, stick the disc in the middle of the flat surface and press it down lightly so that no air bubble is left. Cyanoacrylate holds quickly, a two-part resin stands up to a greater load; double-sided tape suits places where you want to take the attachment apart later.
The holding force falls off with distance, so a thick layer of varnish or putty between the magnet and the steel weakens the effect noticeably. Do not store the set near electronics, cards with a magnetic stripe or precision measuring instruments. Bases, a steel tray and models are not part of the delivery.
Sixty millimeters is also the boundary beyond which it is worth considering a pair of smaller discs placed opposite each other near the edges of the bottom instead of one. A distributed attachment resists the tilting of a long model better.
