Real Colors RC876 Russian Green Protective 4BO, 17 ml

A modeling acrylic paint from the Real Colors range by AK Interactive, the manufacturer's part number RC876, in a 17 ml package. The designation 4BO belongs to the Soviet protective green, a muted green tone with an olive cast.

The color

Protective green 4BO was the overall finish of Soviet ground equipment in the Second World War and held on into the postwar years. On a model it forms the base area of tanks, self-propelled guns and trucks. Because it is a single-color finish with no camouflage patches, the result stands or falls on how the surface is graded and on the traces of service.

How to work with the paint

• Shake the bottle well every time before taking any out; the pigment settles at the bottom.
• Apply it in several thin coats so that welds, engraving and anti-slip surfaces stay legible.
• Lighten the middle of large panels and leave the areas around the joints and the wheel wells darker, or the vehicle will look like a solid block.
• For thinning and for cleaning tools, use the thinner intended for the Real Colors range; the ratio is given in the manufacturer's instructions.
• Try the shade on a scrap before you spray the model.

Packaging and storage

Keep the paint in a carefully closed bottle away from heat and frost. Paint that has thickened can be thinned, but check the final tone on a test sample. The package contains one bottle of 17 ml. Thinner, brushes, an airbrush and the model are not included, unless stated otherwise.
