Sand - Red Blend by Woodland is a loose scenic sand with which dry and desert surfaces are created on dioramas.
Responsibility details are not available.
A loose scenic medium from the scatter range. The word Sand in the name places it among the sands, that is among the fine materials that do not form individual visible grains on a scene but a continuous surface; the designation Blend suggests that it is a mix.
Desert and dry terrains look simple at first glance, because there is no vegetation on them to hide mistakes. That is exactly why every sharp dividing line shows on them. When two sandy areas meet along a straight edge, the diorama immediately gives away that it arose from two bags of material. Work with blending, therefore: scatter the edge of one area into the other, leave a band between them where both materials are mixed, and add a little coarser grain at the boundary, as though the wind had blown it there. Shaping the base also helps, because waves, shallow hollows and low dunes cast shadows and the area stops reading like a flat table. Wheel tracks and imprints are made in the sand before fixing, while the layer is still pliable.
For modelers who build dry and desert scenes, vignettes with vehicles on unpaved terrain or bases where the surface is meant to carry the atmosphere. It combines well with coarser gravels, which are added into hollows and along edges.
The material is supplied as a loose medium; glue, paints and tools are not part of the package, unless stated otherwise.
