Signature palettes come about when an experienced builder picks the colors he works with every day and has them made up together. This one is built around the green and brown tones of American equipment: from olive bases through forest greens and light interior shades to earth browns and ocher khaki. They are rounded out by a rubber black, a metal tone for barrels and chains, a canvas shade for tarpaulins and a pair of flesh tones for the crew.
Eighteen bottles of 17 ml each will cover the complete build of a vehicle and of the figures that go with it, without your having to buy further shades.
The set is built for working in layers: a darker base, a lightened area in the middle of the panels on top of it, and a unifying filter at the end. The greens mix well with one another, so you can blend transitional tones from them for any period from the Second World War to the present. Leave the flesh right to the end, when the vehicle is finished and it is clear how heavy the overall soiling will be; the figure has to fit in tone with the machine it stands next to, otherwise the two parts look as if they came from different models. Save the metal tone for small things: the edges of towing eyes, chains, worn grab handles and the gun muzzle. The smaller the area it covers, the more it stands out on the model, while a tool painted all over looks like a toy.
