A modeling square under the designation B45. It serves to check and to hold a right angle while building and gluing parts.
Responsibility details are not available.
A square is one of those aids that look uninteresting until you notice for the first time on a model that a wall is not perpendicular. It is used to check a right angle and to keep two parts in the correct position until the joint dries. It comes into play when building boxy assemblies, on bulkheads and walls, on a diorama base and when gluing display bases and boxes.
The procedure is always the same: dry-fit the parts first, set the square against them and only then apply the glue. Check the angle from two sides, because a part is often perpendicular in one plane and tilted in the other. Work on a flat and clean surface, otherwise its unevenness transfers into the whole model. Do not move the part again until the glue has dried.
The item carries the designation B45, which sets it apart within the series; the range contains further sizes as well, so you can choose according to the dimensions of your model. The specific dimensions are stated by the manufacturer on the packaging. The smaller form fits better between finished parts, while the larger one holds a long wall along its whole length, so the two sizes rather complement each other in a workshop than replace each other.
The aid suits anyone who builds boxy assemblies or dioramas and wants to be sure that the model will not stand crooked once it is finished. It is bought once and serves a long time, so keep it clean and do not let remains of glue or putty dry on it. Paints, glue and further tools are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
