Static Grass Flock 9-12mm - Brown Moor Grass - 200 ml

Static Grass Flock 9-12 mm Brown Moor Grass, a long static grass, 200 ml

Static grass with fibers 9 to 12 mm long is among the longest used on model landscape. It is not a material for a continuous lawn but for tall growth: tufts by water, reed-like edges of wetlands, overgrown ditches, abandoned ground and the corners of dioramas where the vegetation is meant to spill over the edge. The brown tone points, as the name says, to peat bog and marsh grass, that is to growth that nobody mows. It is supplied loose in a package of 200 ml.

Use

• Long fibers need a thicker layer of glue than short ones; apply the glue more heavily and in smaller patches.
• A weaker electrostatic applicator may not stand fibers of this length up reliably, so work at a shorter distance from the surface and in small amounts.
• Apply in tufts and clumps, not over the whole area; an even coat at this length looks unnatural.
• Once dry, the upper edge can be trimmed with scissors and the shape of the tuft fine-tuned.
• A light overspray of fixative from a distance to fix the growth is more useful with long fibers than with short ones.

Who it is for

For builders of marsh, meadow and neglected landscape, for scenes by water and for modelers who want to add a layer of height above ordinary low growth. In smaller scales it gives the impression of almost shrub-like vegetation; on larger models it matches tall unmown grass. Suitable as a companion to shorter grasses, not as a replacement for them.

Store the loose material in a closed container out of the reach of children. Ensure ventilation when fixing with a spray.
