The stern mirror 69x30 mm is a decorative metal part from Constructo for wooden ship models. It is fitted to the stern wall of a completed hull; it is not a ship kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
This item is not a ship model, but a separate decorative part. The stern mirror is the surface at the stern of a hull which on historic sailing ships carried the richest decoration, that is, carvings, frames and the windows of the cabins. Cutting such decoration in wood by hand is slow, so a ready-made metal casting is used which is simply fitted to a finished hull. The size given for the part is 69x30 mm.
The part is fitted at the moment when the stern wall is finished, sanded and ready for varnishing. Before buying, always compare the size of 69x30 mm with the width and height of the stern of your model, because the decoration of the stern is very conspicuous in proportion and the wrong size gives itself away at once. For smaller hulls the manufacturer also offers a smaller variant of the same type of part.
First free the casting of flash and of the remains of the casting system, then degrease it, because paint does not hold on greasy metal. It is glued with super glue or two-part epoxy onto dry, flat and sanded wood. Apply a primer meant for metal surfaces to the metal, and only then the covering shade. The effect of gilded carving is done well by spraying the whole part with a dark base and then drawing the gold shade lightly over the raised edges with a dry brush, so that the recesses stay dark and the relief stands out.
It is a separate accessory, not a complete ship model. Glue, paints and other materials are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
