A rectangular strip of styrene (polystyrene) with a cross section of 1.5 x 3.0 mm and a length of 350 mm, in a package of 10 pieces. The size lies between the fine detail strips and the load-bearing sections, so it suits features that are to be seen on a model as a structure in their own right but are not to look heavy. Turning the strip on edge or flat also gives you two different looks from one material.
Cut with a sharp knife on a work surface; scoring from one side and breaking gives a cleaner edge than pushing the knife right through. With frames, glue two opposite sides first and only then measure the crosspieces straight into the assembly; it saves you adjusting them. Let cement for plastics run into the joint by capillary action and do not move the part for a while. The surface is sanded and painted just like the plastic of a kit, and a primer coat will unify the shade with the surrounding parts.
For modelers who build their own structures, finish off interiors and dioramas or replace damaged parts. A stock of several close sizes pays off in the workshop, because the right cross section is usually chosen only once the particular part is in hand.
Glue, paints and tools are not included in the package. When cutting and sanding, work on a surface and in a well-ventilated room.
