A plate with the engraved relief of lizard skin, that is a fine grainy structure with irregular little scales. Pressing it into soft modeling putty gives a surface that engraving by hand could never manage as regularly. Check the dimensions of the plate and the material on the packaging. The density of the pattern decides how large a figure the impression suits.

Use

• Roll the modeling putty out into a thin even layer.
• Dampen the plate and the putty or wipe them with a release agent, so that the putty does not stick into the relief.
• Press evenly over the whole area, ideally with a roller, so that the impression is equally deep everywhere.
• Lift the impression off while it is soft and lay it on the body, the tail or the limb where you need the pattern.
• Once it has cured, trim the edges, work the transitions in with filler and emphasize the surface with a wash and a dry brush.
