A dark burgundy translucent acrylic ink for shading red surfaces.
Responsibility details are not available.
Burgundy is the darkest of the red members of the translucent range. Against a pure red it is shifted toward violet, so in a shadow it neither turns gray nor starts to look dusty. That is exactly what makes it suited to places where the red surface is already finished and needs the folds, the seams and the spots under overhangs deepened without changing the basic character of the surface.
Modelers reach for it when shading uniforms, saddles, cloaks and leather accessories, when toning the paint of sports cars to a darker shade and when working with translucent fabrics on figures. It also serves well as a light filter over rusted areas, adding warmth without hiding the texture of the pigment beneath. Paired with a pure red it can build a smooth transition on a single surface from light all the way to almost black.
The bottle holds a single shade and is meant to tone a finished coat, not to replace it. The pigment stays transparent even after several coats, so the engraving and the texture of the surface are not lost under it.
