Grass strips — early autumn are finished lengths of growth in which the green is already turning to golden and ocher tones. You cut them off, glue them on, and you have a finished autumn grassy strip.
Responsibility details are not available.
A finished scenery material for dioramas and layouts, supplied as a continuous strip of grassy growth. You cut off the length you need, apply glue and lay it onto the base — no sprinkling, no applicator. The early autumn version captures grass at the time when the remaining green is giving way to golden, ocher and the first rusty tones, but the growth has not yet lain down and still holds its height.
Early autumn is a rewarding choice for scenes set in September and October: muddy field tracks, margins along harvested fields, overgrown ditches, forest edges, railroad embankments and weed-grown yards. It complements dry leaves, fallen needles and mud well — an autumn scene lives on the contrast between the warm tones of the grass and the cold wet ground. The material is not tied to a single scale; in large scales it reads as tall unmown grass, in small ones as a grassy strip or low scrub.
Paint the substrate a dark brown or earth color. Glue with PVA wood glue or thin latex and press the strip down. Cut the edges into irregular wedges, so that it passes smoothly into the terrain. You can carefully bend part of the stems toward the ground and so suggest grass laid down after rain. You will bring out the rusty touch with a very thin orange-brown filter, and at the foot of the growth add a dark wash or dust pigment.
This is a scenery accessory for building dioramas, not a model kit. The glue, the paints and any further material are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
