Fujimi Type 97 Chi-Ha with a 57 mm gun and a painted pedestal — a cute distorted kit of the Japanese tank in its early production version, completed with a display pedestal for immediate presentation.
Responsibility details are not available.
This cute distorted kit from the Japanese manufacturer Fujimi presents the medium tank Type 97 Chi-Ha in its early production version with the original turret and the short 57 mm gun. According to the name the package also holds a painted display pedestal, so you can put the finished model straight into a display case as a small exhibit. The kit is not in scale — the shortened, chubby proportions are the deliberate style of the line.
The Type 97 Chi-Ha became the most widespread Japanese medium tank of the Second World War. The early production version carried a turret with a short 57 mm gun, a weapon intended mainly for infantry support — destroying machine gun nests and field fortifications. In this form the machine took part in the fighting in China and in the first campaigns in the Pacific; the later machines received a new turret with an anti-tank 47 mm gun.
The simple build is suitable even for a first encounter with modeling; thanks to the enclosed pedestal you do not have to work out where to put the finished model. Painting can be managed with a brush — the Japanese camouflage in ocher, green and brown is typical, but on a playful shape a single-color finish will hold up too. A dark wash around the rivets will give the model depth.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
