The rich Israeli Green FS34064 from Lifecolor is a deep green with a subdued surface look. On utility machinery worked in heat and dust it makes an excellent dark base.

A hot and dusty setting does something to green finishes that is not seen in our conditions: under a layer of fine dust the color lightens and grays so much that the original tone stays visible only in the places sheltered from sun and wind. This rich dark green is an ideal starting point for such a sequence, being deep enough that something is still left to show through once the dust goes on. The number in the name refers to the American Federal Standard color standard.
The key is to keep the difference between what the sun and the wind have weathered and what has stayed hidden. Lighten and dust the upper surfaces, the hood and the roof the most; the sides somewhat less; leave the lower parts under the body, the inner faces of the mudguards and the area around the hinges at their original depth. Around grab rails, handles and often-touched edges, wipe the dust away instead; shinier islands appear and give the model life. Sandy dust also gathers in every horizontal seam and around the wipers, a detail that is often forgotten.
For modelers of utility and off-road machinery and for the authors of dioramas from dry regions, where the contrast between a dusty and a sheltered surface is meant to be the main means of expression.
Store the paint out of the reach of children and work in a well-ventilated space.
