The sand brown Lifecolor Giallo Sabbia Scuro Regio Esercito Matt is the darker variant of the Italian desert yellow, and in the subject of aging it stands for what settles on top of rusted surfaces: dust, baked sand and dry fading.
Responsibility details are not available.
Rust on its own is not enough. On real vehicles corroded places gather dust very quickly, so the resulting surface is not rusty but rust-brown-sand, and it is precisely this last covering that decides whether the model looks like a mock-up or like a machine that has stood somewhere. The matte shade Giallo Sabbia Scuro from Italian military nomenclature is ideal for such a covering, because it is warm, subdued and nowhere looks clean.
Dust belongs at the very end. Lay it on earlier and the following layers will override it and the work will be lost. The recommended sequence is therefore: base finish, damage and scrapes, rust in two or three grades, and only then a very light sand covering from the top down. The layers go on lightly and in repetitions; the strength of the effect should come from the number of passes, not from the density of one. If the edges and the highest points are left out in the process, the model keeps its drawing and the dust does not flatten the shape.
The shade will be appreciated by modelers of desert and southern European vehicles and by everyone who finishes weathering with a unifying dust instead of adding further contrasts.
Keep out of the reach of children and follow the manufacturer's instructions on the packaging.
