In Australian camouflage schemes the undersides are covered by a light blue, which in acrylic is represented by Lifecolor RAAF Sky Blue FS25550.
Responsibility details are not available.
A light blue acrylic shade for the Royal Australian Air Force with a number to the American Federal Standard. In the logic of a camouflage scheme it fills the same role as the light blues in the German RLM system: it covers the undersides and separates them from the darker colors above.
The underside of a model tends to be underrated, and yet it is precisely what decides how an aircraft reads in a display case when seen from below. The light blue is applied to the underside of the wings, the fuselage under the spar and the lower part of the tail surfaces, and the boundary against the upper camouflage usually runs along the leading edge and the sides of the fuselage. Because it is a large continuous area, it is applied in thin coats and from the edges, so that the transition to the upper colors stays clean. A light blue also takes later shading well, so panel lines and traces of use show up on it.
Modelers of Allied equipment from the Pacific theater and everyone who assembles their palette by standard numbers. A complete scheme also needs the upper camouflage colors; without them the model stays in a single tone.
Keep out of the reach of children. Make sure there is adequate ventilation when spraying.
