Two trial camouflage patterns that the American army tried out in Europe in the seventies and eighties are covered by a set of eight tones. A light green for the interior spaces of armored personnel carriers is included as well.
Responsibility details are not available.
In the seventies and eighties the American units stationed in Europe tried two different ways of breaking up the outline of a vehicle. The first worked with large irregular fields, the second with a finer double division that was meant to work at a shorter distance as well. For each of the two trials the package holds a trio of shades of its own.
To the older of the patterns belong the forest green FS34127, the brick red FS30117 and the sand gray FS30372. The combination comes across as unusual at first sight, but that is exactly why it is worth trying out on a model. The second trial rested on the sand brown FS30277, the dark green FS34079 and the field drab FS30118. The night black FS37038 is common to both patterns and in both makes up the darkest component.
The last bottle, with the pale greenish FS24533, does not belong to the camouflage at all. It matches the inner surfaces of American armored personnel carriers and infantry fighting vehicles, that is the spaces that are clearly visible on models with an open rear.
For a modeler it is a rare chance to build a well-known vehicle in a guise that almost nobody else will have at shows.
