A black vinyl sticker intended for finishing models. Unlike a waterslide decal it is not soaked in water: you lift it off its backing and stick it straight onto the model. Vinyl is more flexible and more durable than decal film, so it will take even a slight bend over an edge and handling during further work.
It comes into its own anywhere an area is to be evenly black with no spraying: on models of cars and racing cars for dark body elements, on trims and stripes, on areas below windows or as a base for further surface treatment. It also suits places where spraying would mean laboriously masking the surroundings.
First wash and degrease the surface; vinyl does not hold on grease and dust. Trace the shape first and cut it out with a fresh sharp blade along a ruler or a template, because a blunt edge will tear the edge. Lay the sticker from one side and press it down gradually, so that no air is left under it; a bubble can be pierced with the tip of a knife and squeezed out. Over edges and curves a slight warming helps and the material then beds down better. Press the edges down with a smooth tool once it is stuck. If you are going to clear coat the model, first test the compatibility of the clear with vinyl on an offcut.
