Why decals should be stored separately
Decal sheets are the most vulnerable part of a kit. The carrier film ages, it yellows in light and heat, and if a sheet is bent the motif itself cracks. Yet most modelers, once a model is finished, simply stuff the leftover sheets into a box where they get creased and bent. With leftover sheets from limited editions and with separately bought decal sets that is a particular shame, because they often cannot be bought again. Storing them flat, in order and in the dark is the simplest way to extend their life.
For modelers who build continuously and accumulate leftover sheets, and for collectors of decal sets. It is also practical for anyone tidying up a bench who wants small materials in closed boxes rather than loose in a drawer.
Store decals flat, dry and out of direct light. Damp is the worst enemy, because it activates the carrier film prematurely and the sheet is then unusable.
