The package holds three metal windows measuring 24 mm. It is not a kit and not a finished model, but add-on fittings for wooden ship models. Against a part cut from wood, the metal form has sharper edges and a thinner frame, so a window on a model looks more to scale and takes finer painting as well.
The windows are set into the walls of superstructures, into the wheelhouse or into the stern of the hull. In wooden planking the opening is pre-drilled and cut to size so that the window seats with no gaps; a larger opening can still be filled with a strip or with filler, but a clean cut always looks better. The placement follows the plan of the particular subject, because the windows follow the internal arrangement of the cabins and decks.
Glue the metal with super glue or epoxy, degreasing the surface beforehand. A primer for metal is a good idea before painting, otherwise the paint holds badly on a smooth surface. If you want to keep the metal shine, polish the part and coat it with clear varnish so that it does not oxidize. Glazing can be imitated with thin transparent film glued in from behind; a drop of clear glue leaves a slightly domed pane, which looks natural on ship windows.
The accessory is supplied unpainted. Glue, paints and further parts are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
