Tamiya X-24 Clear Yellow is an acrylic paint in a jar with a volume of 23 ml from the gloss X range. It is not an ordinary yellow: it is a transparent (tinting) yellow. What it is: a transparent glaze used to tint clear and glossy surfaces without making them disappear. What it is not: it is not a covering paint — over a light base it will not form an opaque layer, only give it a yellow tint. The paint is water-thinnable, thinned for airbrush use with acrylic thinner X-20A. Watch out for mix-ups with the enamel version of the same number, which is thinned with thinner X-20 (without the letter A).
The key to working with a transparent paint is patience: apply thin coats and let them tack up — each further coat deepens and darkens the result. This gives you full control over the intensity, but the shade cannot be lightened again afterward, so it is better to add one coat at a time. Applied over a gloss silver or aluminum base, it creates the effect of colored metal — used for exhausts and engine parts. The gloss finish of the X range is also a good base for decals. It can be applied with a brush or an airbrush; an airbrush gives a more even glaze.
For modelers of cars, aircraft and motorcycles who tint clear parts, make position lights, or work with candy effects. It is not intended for those looking for a covering yellow shade.
Intended for modeling use. Work in a well-ventilated area, use respiratory protection when spraying with an airbrush. Keep out of the reach of children.
