Tamiya X-26 Clear Orange — Clear Acrylic Paint, Gloss, 23 ml

Tamiya X-26 Clear Orange is an acrylic paint in a 23 ml jar, from the X line with a gloss finish. The nature of the shade is essential for correct use: it is a clear (tinting) orange. What it is: a transparent glaze that colors the base while letting it show through — which is why it suits orange light covers and tinting. What it is not: it is not an opaque paint — over a light base it will not create a solid orange area, only a warm orange cast. The paint is water-thinnable, and for an airbrush it is thinned with X-20A acrylic thinner; the enamel counterpart of the same number is thinned with X-20 (without the A) — they are different products.

Use

• Orange light covers and turn signals — a classic use for blinkers and marker lights on car and vehicle models.
• Tinting clear parts — taillight clusters, beacons, instrument covers.
• A warm cast on metal exhausts and engine parts — imitating heat discoloration.
• Mixing and layering with other clear shades for custom tones (e.g. amber, warm red).
• Applied by brush or airbrush; small parts like turn signals can be handled safely with a brush.

Application tips

Clear paints work differently from opaque ones: the final saturation is built up with thin coats, and each additional coat darkens the shade. Do not rush — apply coat after coat and check the shade against light as you go. Applying it over a gloss silver or aluminum base creates a convincing warm-toned metal effect, popular for exhausts. The gloss of the X line also serves as a good base under decals.

Who the paint is for

For modelers of cars, motorcycles, trucks, construction equipment and aircraft who make orange lights, turn signals, or color exhausts. Not suited where an opaque orange is needed.

The paint is intended for modeling use. Work in a well-ventilated area, and use respiratory protection when airbrushing. Keep out of the reach of children.
