A small scale model of the Czechoslovak infantry casemate K-Bg-S 10 with the code name U bozi muky, meaning at the wayside shrine, in 1:1000 scale from the Czech maker ROP. The model captures the mass of the concrete structure with its armored elements, and in this scale it serves as a collector piece, an element in a diorama of a fortified line or an addition to map and tabletop layouts.
K-Bg-S 10 was part of the Hurka artillery fort in the Kraliky fortified area and belonged to the fort casemates of the Czechoslovak prewar fortifications of the second half of the 1930s. It was a double-sided structure of the highest resistance class with armored cupolas and a planned unique retractable rotating turret; its garrison numbered dozens of men and the casemate was connected to the underground of the fort by a deep shaft. To this day it is one of the accessible and popular structures of the Czechoslovak fortifications.
The model is worked out from period drawings, so it faithfully keeps the proportions and the divisions of the real casemate. In 1:1000 scale it comes into its own above all as part of a mock-up of a fortified sector or in a collection of Czechoslovak fortification structures; fine dry brushing and weathering washes work well for bringing out the concrete and the armored elements.
