This is a sheet of wet decals in its own right, not a kit. It is made by the Hungarian brand HAD models, which has long devoted itself to the markings of aircraft operated in Hungary. The sheet brings together markings for three Second World War types in the small 1:144 scale and is listed in the manufacturer's range as the first part of a series, followed by another sheet with the same three types. The decals are printed on a carrier film and are applied the classic wet way.
The Messerschmitt Bf 109 G-6 is a single-engine fighter with an inverted V12 engine, recognizable by the bulged covers over the machine gun breeches on the upper cowling. The Junkers Ju 87 B-2 is a two-seat dive bomber with fixed landing gear in spats and an inverted gull wing. The Focke-Wulf Fw 190 F-8 is the ground attack version of the Fw 190 fighter, with a radial engine, strengthened armor protection of the lower fuselage and racks for bomb loads. All three types are available in 1:144 scale from several kit manufacturers.
Varnish the area under the decal with gloss clear coat, as the film keys better on a smooth base and no silvery haze appears. Cut the design out as close to the printing as possible, dip it in lukewarm water for a few seconds and let it rest until the film begins to slide freely on the backing. Once it is in place, draw the water from under the decal gently with a cloth and fine-tune the position with a soft brush. On busy areas a softener helps, as it pulls the film onto the engraved lines. In 1:144 scale the designs are very small, so fine tweezers and good lighting pay off. Once dry, varnish the model with a matte or semi-matte coat.
