Resin engine nacelles for a model of the Boeing 777 in 1:144 scale. The set replaces the parts from a base kit and is fitted to the pylons under the wing. It is not a model of the aircraft, but a detail accessory to one.
The form marked 115 is the most powerful member of the GE90 family and arose for the heaviest and longest-range versions of the Boeing 777, that is the stretched long-range subtype, the ultra-long-range variant and the freighter. Compared with the older form it has a noticeably larger fan, whose diameter approaches the width of the fuselage of a narrow-body airliner, so the nacelle looks unusually massive even in a small scale. The fan blades are composite and markedly curved. For the modeler this is an important distinction: both forms of the GE90 look similar at first glance, but they differ in the diameter of the intake and in the length of the nacelle, so the choice of set goes by the particular subtype of the aircraft being built, not just by the make of the engine. The engine hangs on a short pylon fairly low above the ground, which on the real subject is clearly apparent when seen from the front.
The larger a casting is, the more likely a small void left by air will appear in it. After cutting the pour block away, therefore, sand the surface over once first and only then fill, so that everything shows at the same time. Super glue sets quickly on resin; on larger areas the gel version is useful, or an activator applied to one of the parts, which fixes the joint in an instant. Before anything else, however, wash the mold release agent off the castings with warm water and dish soap. Do the sanding with a respirator; the fine dust from resin stays in the air for a long time.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
